It was a dramatic start to Bellingham's Borussia Dortmund career. A sum of £27 million plus extras was paid to help him reach the Club World Cup in time, suggesting the 20-year-old was on manager Niko Kovac's radar.
However, he has been sidelined since the start of the 2025/26 season, logging just 300 minutes in all competitions as Kovac increasingly uses the midfield combination of Marcel Sabitzer and Felix Nmecha. This led to some discontent on the part of the Bellingham camp.
For now, he'll just have to be patient. Dortmund have started the season very well, looking unusually solid and unbeaten in the Bundesliga. At some stage the opportunity will arise, so he needs to curl up and be ready to pounce.
Moving to Manchester United so soon would be a huge mistake, especially as young, developing players have not fared well at Old Trafford in recent years.
