Toronto Argonauts shut down star LB Wynton McManis with groin injury: report

Star linebacker Wynton McManis is out for the rest of the 2025 CFL season with a groin injury, according to the Toronto Argonauts. TSN correspondent Farhan Lalji.

Head coach Ryan Dinwiddie turned his team around to 5-11 in 16 games and was eliminated from playoff contention. The 31-year-old team captain played in 13 games for the Argos, recording 62 tackles, four sacks, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

In 55 regular-season games with Toronto, McManis recorded 286 tackles, 11 special teams stops, 12 sacks, nine interceptions, three touchdowns and two forced fumbles. His son and daughter were born in “Six,” as he and his family call it.

During his CFL career, the six-foot, 220-pound linebacker has 390 tackles, 52 special teams tackles, 16 sacks, nine interceptions, three fumble recoveries and three defensive touchdowns in 100 games.

McManis has won three Gray Cups (2018, 2022 and 2024) and was a two-time CFL All-Star (2022 and 2023). He was the best player on the field for the Double Blues in the 111th Gray Cup win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, recording six tackles and one interception, which he returned 58 yards for a touchdown.

McManis was the highest-paid linebacker in the league with three downs for the third year in a row..

The Toronto Argonauts (5-11) will face the Saskatchewan Roughriders (11-4) at Mosaic Stadium in Regina on Friday, October 10, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 pm ET. The Roughriders earned a modest victory over the Ottawa Redblacks.Bye The Argonauts were defeated by Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
