Dolly Parton spoke out to reassure the public that her life was not in danger, telling fans: “I'm not dead yet!”
Concerns about Parton began to spread after the disturbing event. Facebook post her sister Freida Parton yesterday (October 7), who asked fans to pray for the singer. Dolly recently canceled her appearances in Las Vegas due to health reasons.
In a life-affirming Instagram video post, Dolly explained: “Everyone thinks I'm sicker than I am. Do I look sick to you?
She continued: “When my husband Carl was very sick, it was for a long time, and then when he died, I didn't take care of myself, so I missed out on a lot of things that I should have taken care of. Anyway, when I got to this point, the doctor said, “We need to take care of this. We need to take care of this.” Nothing serious, but I had to cancel some things to be closer to home.”
She said she was “getting a few treatments here and there” but insisted, “I'm not dying.” She added: “There are a lot of rumors going around, but I thought if you heard it from me, you'd know I'm fine. Anyway, that's what I wanted to say, and I'm not ready to die yet. I don't think God is done with me and I'm not done working yet. So I love you for caring and continue to pray for me.”
Concern for Dolly's health began after Frida Parton wrote: “Last night I stayed up all night praying for my sister Dolly. Many of you know that she hasn't been feeling well lately.”
Frida later updated“I want to clear something up. I didn't mean to scare anyone or make it so serious when I asked them to pray for Dolly. She was a little out of sorts and I just asked for prayer because I believe so much in the power of prayer.”
