A new narrative arch will appear in Frostheven
ARC Games and Snapshot Games announced Awakening Protocol, the first major content update in early access Frosthevenwhich will be released for free on October 23 on Steam and Epic Games Store. This is an update, which followed the recent mini-campaign “Road to Frostheven”, developed in collaboration with the creator of the board game Frostheven Isaac Childers, marks a significant expansion of the digital adaptation of the famous board game.
The Snapshot Games developed under the leadership of General Director Julian Gollop, known as the Creator of XCOM, and supported by Isaac Childers as a consultant, Frosthaven continues to combine a strategic depth with an exciting narrative. The “Awakening Protocol” represents a new storyline, the action of which unfolds among the ruins of ancient civilization. Once being created for the service and a long-forgotten, mechanical fraction, known as freed, was awakened under the command of the mysterious leader, threatening Frostheven's fragile world. Players have to resist this uprising and determine the fate of the settlement with their decisions and actions.
The update contains many new content, including three new game heroes with different styles of the game, more than eighteen new quests and five formidable bosses intended to check strategy and endurance. Players can improve their settlement by adding a town hall and eight new improvements to buildings, and more than forty new objects expand the possibilities of battle and craft. The new test system introduces additional tasks for players looking for higher awards, and announcements of vacancies in the town hall open new side quests to strengthen their group.
The Frosthaven Awakening Protocol protocol will also be presented at the Spiel Essen 2025 exhibition, where visitors will be able to see demo versions and exclusive goods at the Cephalofair Games stand.
