9 New Shows and Movies to Watch on Apple TV, Hulu, Netflix, and More This Weekend

We've officially reached the halfway point of the month, but that doesn't mean content release schedules are slowing down. This week we delve into true crime with the premiere of documentaries and adaptations, as well as a look at new seasons of TV series. Loot And Diplomat. There's even a Roald Dahl animated film, a Martin Scorsese documentary sure to please cinephiles, and a dated sequel to the iconic 1997 slasher franchise.

Loot (Season 3)

Maya Rudolph returns as eccentric billionaire philanthropist Molly Wells in an all-new season of the series. Loot.

At the end of the second season, Molly and her assistant Nicholas (Joel Kim Booster, Big mouth), boarded her private jet, and Molly wanted to get as far away from her life as possible. She received a lot of flak from fellow billionaires for stepping up her philanthropic efforts, and ended up kissing Arthur (Nat Faxon, of Way Back), only to find out that he has a girlfriend. We all understood her feelings of humiliation, as well as her need to escape.

In season three, we see a new Molly who returns in shape, bigger, bolder and with a much fresher look. As her journey of self-discovery and giving away her vast fortune continues, so do the antics of her favorite group of misfits who work for her at the Wells Foundation.

LootThe third season premiered in two episodes on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, on Apple TV. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays until December 10, 2025.

Murdo: Death in the Family

Fans of crime adaptations will love it Murdo: Death in the Family. If you're an avid true crime aficionado, chances are you already know the story of the Murdo family murders, dating back to 2021. Now is your chance to watch the saga unfold – scripted, of course.

The Murdaughs were a family of prominent South Carolina lawyers whose power over the local justice system spanned several generations. Patriarch Alex, his wife Maggie and their two sons, Buster and Paul, live a very comfortable life, but that doesn't mean it's perfect. After Paul is charged with murder, their lives begin to unravel and closed skeletons appear.

On June 7, 2021, Alex shot and killed Maggie and Paul. In the months that followed, his long history of financial fraud and hidden opioid addiction was revealed, and in March 2023 he was found guilty and sentenced to two consecutive life sentences. Although he still maintains his innocence, there is more to this family saga. I Know What You Did Last Summer (2025)

cult slasher film The franchise that started back in 1997 is back this year with a new next-gen installment, and it's finally available to stream.

I know what you did last summer it's not a remake, it's outdated continuation The film centers on a group of five friends whose lives turn into a nightmare after they accidentally cause a fatal car accident. Panicked, the group hides their involvement and agrees to keep what happened a secret rather than face the consequences. After an entire year without any reaction, the group begins to suspect that their past is not as secret as they thought when strange messages appear around them and bodies begin to pile up. It seems the infamous hook-wielding maniac is back for blood.

Diplomat (Season 3)

Keri Russell returns as Kate Wyler in Diplomata third season that will turn her chessboard upside down and show her the hard way that getting what you want in life sometimes means living through a nightmare.

In Season 3, the President will die and Kate will accuse Vice President Grace Penn (Allison Janney) of hatching a terrorist plot, right before admitting that she wants the Vice President's job for herself. When Vice President Grace steps into the role of leader of the free world, Kate is forced to take on a role she never wanted, and it brings freedom she never expected. This leads to an increasingly complicated friendship with Foreign Secretary Austin Dennison (David Gyasi, US President). Carnival Row) and an unnerving connection with the First Gentleman Todd Penn, played by new actor Bradley Whitford (The Handmaid's Tale).

Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy

“Tis the season for series about serial killersand this week the focus is on John Wayne Gacy, who kidnapped, raped, murdered and buried thirty-three young men and boys in a Chicago suburb between 1972 and 1978.

According to the official logline, Gacy was charming and funny. He had children, worked a regular job, volunteered to entertain the sick dressed as a clown, and was widely popular as a leader in his community. He even marched in parades as a clown to cheer people up, but in reality, Gacy says, it was because clowning allowed him to relax, go back to his childhood, and allow himself to do things like touch people inappropriately without their consent. According to Gacyif you're dressed like a clown, you can get away with anything, even murder.

Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy it's an eight-part miniseries that doesn't just focus on peeling back the layers of his life and dramatizing his crimes. It also brings to life the stories of his victims and explores the grief, guilt and trauma of their families and friends. The series also reveals the systemic failures, missed opportunities and social prejudices that fueled Gacy's reign of twisted terror.

In case you didn't know, Netflix acquired the entire Roald Dahl library back in 2021. While we've seen the musical and plenty of Wes Anderson shorts, we haven't seen a solo animated feature… until now.

Tweets based on Dahl's 1980 children's novel, directed by Rich Moore (Wreck-It Ralph). This is not a true adaptation, but a reimagining of the story of two brave children who team up with a family of magical animals to defeat the villains who have taken over their town. Ideal neighbor is a groundbreaking documentary that uses CCTV and television footage to detail a shocking incident in a US neighborhood that made international news. It also explores the absurdity of the Stand Your Ground law. according to documentarian Gita Gandbhir.

In June 2023, in Ocala, Florida, a 58-year-old white woman named Susan Lorincz shot and killed her 35-year-old black neighbor Ajike Owens through a locked front door, claiming she feared for her life. The incident occurred after several disputes arose between Owens' and Lorinc's children, mostly over children playing loudly on the shared grass. Owens died on the street, but it was several days before her killer was arrested. Director Geeta Gandbhir reconstructs the case from the first 911 call to the murder using official footage of first responders.

The actor-comedian's laid-back, deadpan special is a blend of complete ridiculousness that will do one of two things: make you laugh or make you say, “Hmm.” Consisting of equal parts stand-up comedy, documentary and impromptu rock concert, Pally uses his stage to act out and reveal the truth. He even tinkers with his guitar from time to time and he doesn't care whether you like it or not. As an added bonus, his cousin will be joining the fun as a DJ.
