8 Times JD Vance Went Into Lions Den And Jousted With The Left

Vice President J.D. Vance has repeatedly confronted the corporate media in hostile environments, aggressively pushing back against their narrative in heated debates.

Vance willingly entered the lion's den throughout the 2024 election and as vice president, where members of the corporate media often tried to corner him on the positions and policies of President Donald Trump's administration. He was widely praised by conservatives for countering leftist narratives.

“I Don't Care, Margaret”: Vance argues with Margaret Brennan over illegal immigration

CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan said during the January 26 episode of Face the Nation that 30,000 Afghans were properly vetted in the U.S., despite the fact that there was a duly vetted Afghan citizen who was planning a terrorist attack in Oklahoma in November 2024.

My number one priority as Vice President Margaret is to take care of the American people. And now that we know we have problems vetting many refugee programs, we absolutely cannot release thousands of unvetted people into our country,” Vance said.

These people are vetted,” Brennan said. (RELATED: Vance Sets Political Reporter on Fire for Smearing the 'Deep State')

Just like the guy who did the Oklahoma bombing a few months ago, he supposedly passed the proper checks. And many people in the media and the Democratic Party said it had been properly vetted. Clearly this is not the case. I don't want my children to share A proximity to people who have not been properly vetted. And because I don't want this for my children, I also have no intention of forcing the children of other American citizens to do this.”

Brennan argued that it was not clear whether the suspect was “radicalized” before or after arriving in the US.

“I don’t care, Margaret,” Vance replied. “I don't want this man in my country. And I think most The Americans agree with me.”

The suspect in question was Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi, who entered the US on humanitarian parole in 2021 and was arrested on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack on Election Day in 2024. Most recently, an Afghan national named Rahmanullah Lakanwal was charged with shooting two National Guardsmen at the Farragut West subway station in Washington, D.C., in November. He entered the US under former President Joe Biden's administration and was granted asylum in early 2025 under the Trump administration.

Vance accuses Dana Bash of double standards during interviews with him and Democrats

During the 2024 election cycle, Vance accused CNN's Dana Bash of imposing a double standard in the way she interviews him compared to then-Vice President Kamala Harris and her former running mate, Democratic Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. Bash questioned Vance about claims that Haitians were eating pets in Springfield, Ohio, which many believed was a conspiracy theory.

“Dana, do you want to ask me questions and then let me answer them, or do you want to debate with me about these topics? I noticed that when you had Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, you gave them multiple answers to the questions you asked and let them answer the questions. I'm glad to be here to talk about politics, but if you're going to interrupt me every time I open my mouth, then why am I even doing this? So please ask a question, and I ask you be polite enough to let me answer,” Vance said.

Vance turns the tables on Vanity Fair story, claiming official called him a 'conspiracy theorist'

On December 16, Vanity Fair published a report claiming that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles had called Vance a “conspiracy theorist.” When a Washington Post reporter asked Vance to respond during an event on December 16, he stated that he only believed in conspiracies that were true.

“Sometimes I'm a conspiracy theorist, but I only believe in conspiracy theories that are true. And by the way, Susie and I have been joking about this for a long time, both privately and publicly. time. For example, back in 2020 I believed in a crazy conspiracy theory about how stupid masks for three year olds in the middle of the COVID pandemic, which we should really allow they develop some language skills. I believed this crazy conspiracy theory that was being covered by the media and government. “I emphasized the fact that Joe Biden clearly failed to do the job.”

Vance accuses Politico reporter of 'journalistic negligence' over story about special envoy Steve Witkoff

In August, Vance sharply criticized Politico diplomatic correspondent Felicia Schwartz's report on special envoy Steve Witkoff, in which she cited anonymous sources, shortened Vance's quote and did not include comments from Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

“This Politico story is journalistic malpractice. But it's more than that: it's a foreign influence operation designed to hurt the administration and one of our most effective members. Notice how all the people attacking Steve are in the background? That means it's two or three deep-rooted people who are unhappy that Witkoff succeeded where they failed,” Vance wrote on X. “You know that this one “reporter” left to make room for anonymous quotes? Full quote from the meeting Vice President, in the record. Quote from the Secretary of State, in the record. Quote from Jared Kushner, in the record.”

Vance responds to liberal influencer accusing him of 'war crime'

Liberal powerbroker Brian Krasenstein accused the administration of committing a “war crime” for carrying out airstrikes on Venezuelan ships believed to be carrying illegal drugs to the United States. Vance doubled down on the administration's actions, saying that killing cartel members that put Americans in danger is “the highest and best use of our military.”

“Killing citizens of another country who are civilians, without any due process of law, is called a war crime,” Krasenstein said in a Sept. 6 post on X.

“I don’t care what you call it,” Vance replied.

Trump has authorized strikes on several Venezuelan ships said to be carrying drugs and drug traffickers. The administration has yet to provide conclusive evidence that these ships were actually carrying illegal drugs or were operated by narco-terrorists, including members of Tren de Agua.

Vance mocks ABC anchor's priorities amid government shutdown

As the longest government shutdown in history continued, ABC's George Stephanopoulos asked Vance about reports that alleged border czar Tom Homan accepted $50,000 in cash from Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents in 2024 during an Oct. 12 interview on “This Week.” Vance also hit back at Stephanopoulos for focusing on reporting on Homan rather than on what really mattered to the American people.

“Here, George, is why fewer and fewer people are watching your program and why you're losing credibility: because you've been talking—for five minutes now—to the Vice President of the United States about this story involving Tom Homan, a story I've read about, but I don't even know the video you're talking about,” Vance said. “Meanwhile, low-income women can't get food because the Democrats and Chuck Schumer shut down the government. Right now we're trying to figure out how to pay our soldiers because Chuck Schumer shut down the government. You're focusing on a fake story.”

You're insinuating a criminal offense against a guy who instead did nothing wrong. focus on the fact that our country is going through difficulties because our government is closed down. Let's talk about real issues, George,” the vice president continued.

Vance doesn't let the host get away with trying to ask a question.

The vice president rebuffed NBC News reporter Kristen Welker's attempt to ask a question about gerrymandering in Texas.

“If President Trump's agenda is so popular, why do Republicans need to add more seats to the map?” Welker asked during an Aug. 24 appearance on Meet the Press.

“First of all, Kristen, you have to ask yourself why Democrats have aggressively gerrymandered their states over the last ten to twenty years,” Vance said. “If you look at the popular vote in many of these states, for example, in Massachusetts, where 32% of Massachusetts residents voted Republican, not a single Republican federal representative.”

The Texas Legislature redrawn the congressional map to help Republicans win more House seats, prompting outraged Democrats to flee the state in retaliation. After a contentious legal battle, the Supreme Court granted Texas green light move on with the map.

Vance turns to face a reporter attempting to question him about Trump's claims of fraud in the 2020 election.

During a performance atInterviewOctober 12, 2024 by Lulu Garcia-Navarro of The New York Times attempt ask Vance if he thinks President Donald Trump lost the 2020 election. In response, Vance criticized her for not acknowledging that big tech companies censored a story about Hunter Biden's laptop just weeks before the 2020 election.

“Senator Vance, I want to ask you again. Did Donald Trump lose the 2020 election? Garcia-Navarro asked.

“Did big tech companies censor a story that independent research showed would have cost Trump millions of votes? I think that's the question… But you're repeating a slogan rather than doing what I'm saying, which is when our own tech companies engage in industrial-scale censorship – backed by the federal government, by the way – in a way that independent research suggests influences votes,” Vance said. “I'm concerned about Americans who feel like there were problems in 2020. I'm not worried about this slogan that people are throwing around: 'Well, every court case went like this. I'm talking about something very cautious, the issue of censorship in this country, which I think influenced the situation in 2020.”

In October 2020, Twitter suspended the accounts of the New York Post and then-White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany for publishing an article about Hunter Biden's laptop, claiming it violated its hacked content policy. The Daily Caller News Foundation, The Washington Post and The New York Times later independently confirmed that the laptop belonged Hunter Biden and that at least some of the content was genuine.
