The joint force's eight-month investigation resulted in the seizure of 72 illegal handguns and dozens of prohibited devices. Two men from Brampton, Ontario now face serious gun trafficking charges.
The investigation, initially focused on suspected cocaine trafficking, led to the discovery of the guns. When AKI Officers intercepted a northbound tractor-trailer near Temiskaming Shores.
The truck, traveling from Toronto, was stopped at a Department of Transportation inspection station.

With the assistance of multiple OPP units, including the Organized Crime Bureau, Firearms and Gangs Enforcement Team, Northeast Region Street Crime Units, Canine Unit and Temiskaming OPP, a search warrant was executed on the vehicle.
Police seized 72 illegal pistols and 66 illegal devices.
Early tracking suggests all firearms were manufactured in the United States.
“These firearms were manufactured in the United States, highlighting the importance of partnerships with cross-border law enforcement agencies. Thanks to the dedication of our officers and partners, we disrupted a major criminal operation and removed dangerous weapons from circulation,” said OPP Security Chief. Mike Stoddart.
As a result of the investigation, two Brampton men have been charged with 72 counts of trafficking and possession of weapons for the purpose of transporting cocaine.
