6 Texas A&M players make All-SEC teams, with one surprising omission

Texas A&M (11-1, 7-1 SEC) will go out on College football playoffs for the first time in program history as a No. 7 seed, which will host No. 10 Miami (10-2) as head coach on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Kyle Field. Mike Elko and his veteran squad are set to take the field for the first time since a 27-17 loss to rival Texas on Black Friday.

For those watching the Aggies for the first time this season, knowing that the CFP attracts a national audience year after year, this roster was built in the offseason after 72% of the 2024 team returned, coupled with several key additions to the transfer portal led by receivers K.C. Concepcion and Mario Craver, who turned the offense around and finished with over 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns.

On defense, senior edge Cashius Howell snubbed by several preseason agencies, including SEC preseason teams, led the SEC in sacks (11.5) in a pass rush that finished tied for first in sacks (41) with Oklahoma.

However, all eleven victories would not have been possible without the performance of the starting quarterback. Marcel Reedwho, along with A&M's veteran offensive line that allowed just 12 sacks, threw for 2,932 yards and 25 touchdowns. Finals on Tuesday All SEC teams were released as six Aggies made the first and third teams, including three teams selected by KC Concepcion.

OL – Trey Zune III

DL – Cashius Howell

Third team

WR – Mario Craver

OL – Chase Bisontis

LB – Taurus York

The most surprising omission is Marcel Reed, who was a Heisman candidate throughout the year and one of the best quarterbacks in the SEC outside of Diego Pavia (Vanderbilt), Gunner Stockton (Georgia) and Arch Manning (Texas). Still, Cashius Howell earning first-team honors is quite an accomplishment for the former Bowling Green standout.
