Welcome to the November 2025 Blu-ray Bounty. This is an exciting release as it is the first anniversary of the Blu-ray Bounty (time flies!). We've reviewed some excellent 4K discs in the last twelve months and I have 6 more new discs to add to the growing line.
If you're new here, you can check out previous episodes Bounty Blu-ray is here. In last month's news roundup October 2025I watched 5 discs: Rocky Horror Photo Show, Fantastic Four: First Steps, The Sound of Music, Jurassic Park: Rebirth And Dead of Night (1945).
4K Blu-ray plays an important role in testing here at TechRadar, as it is one of our main sources for testing best tvs And best soundbars thanks to higher video bitrates compared to 4K streaming and uncompressed audio. Not only that, many of us are fans and collectors of 4K Blu-ray ourselves.
As usual, I won't be reviewing the films themselves, but will simply comment on the video and audio quality of each disc.
Mask
One of the first films that catapulted Jim Carrey into superstardom. Mask is a classic 90's comedy/comic. It tells the story of a bank teller named Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey) who finds an enchanted mask that, when he wears it, turns him into a super-powered troublemaker. This film also marked Cameron Diaz's acting debut.
This 4K restoration from Arrow Video looks stunning. Textures have been cleaned up, giving them a crisp and detailed look. The folds in clothing, people's faces and skin, and even the surroundings look great. Contrast in dark scenes is strong and blacks are deep. For cinephiles, there is still a fair amount of film grain present.
But the most important advantage of the disc is color rendition. The famous yellow color of The Mask's costume is surprisingly bright and rich without looking oversaturated. The Coco Bongo nightclub neon is bright, and if you have a TV with a high peak brightness, those neon highlights really pop on screen, especially with Dolby Vision.
There are several soundtrack options, including Dolby Atmos and 5.1 channel. The 5.1 version has a much warmer sound with an emphasis on bass, which is evident in the music sections. The Atmos soundtrack is much brighter, but also creates a wider soundstage with precise sound placement: every wacky cartoon sound effect as the Mask spins like a tornado is rendered with precision. Speech is clear and there is an excellent balance between surround effects and front channels.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest It's the story of a criminal named Randle McMurphy (Jack Nicholson) who feigns mental illness to avoid a regular prison sentence and ends up in a mental hospital. Here he befriends other patients and rebels against Nurse Ratched, the chief orderly. This multiple Academy Award-winning 4K version of the film has been restored by the Academy itself.
Visually, this 4K disc breathes new life into the film. Textures are crisp with new, refined details, and McMurphy's clothing and facial stubble look realistic. Blacks are rich and contrast in night scenes is powerful, with excellent levels of shadow detail. Color is used sparingly throughout the film, but any colors present, such as the green grass or the blue of a patient's uniform, look authentic.
The 4K disc features a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio soundtrack, and while there aren't many scenes to showcase, speech is always clear, and subtle sound effects are placed effectively during quiet moments.
Edward Scissorhands
Edward Scissorhandsone of the most famous films directed by Tim Burton, in which Johnny Depp plays the main character, and tells the story of an artificial man who has blades instead of hands. He is taken in by a suburban family and falls in love with their daughter Kim (Winona Ryder).
This disc is in 4K resolution Edward Scissorhands looks fantastic. Color rendition is one of its greatest strengths, with the bright, eye-popping colors of suburban homes and people's clothes jumping off the screen. Green, pink, purple—each color is bright and bold, especially when viewed in Dolby Vision. But there is also a great balance: the colors look not only vibrant, but also natural.
Elsewhere, the black is deep, whether in Edward's suit or the dark walls of the mansion. The contrast, as seen in the night scenes and between Edward's black suit and the white of the snow, is strong throughout. Textures have been increased and now look clean and crisp.
The 4K disc's Dolby Atmos soundtrack is powerful and immersive. Danny Elfman's unmistakable score, with shimmering bells, breathy upbeat horns and delicate strings, rings out with real clarity. More subtle effects, such as the clicking sound of Edward's scissors, are also refined and precisely placed across the soundtrack's wide soundstage.
F1
A film about the world of Formula 1 racing. F1 follows Sonny Hayes (Brad Pitt), an aging racing driver who is brought in to help a struggling Formula One team. The film blends fiction with reality as real-life Formula 1 drivers, crews and teams are presented as opponents to the fictional APXGP team.
No wonder where F1 The 4K disc features a Dolby Atmos soundtrack that shines. Sounds are reproduced with incredible precision, and your home theater subwoofer has enough power to show off. The rumble of Formula 1 car engines, screeching tires and the sound of the wind whipping through the cockpit during the first-person scenes with Sonny behind the wheel are all reproduced clearly and create a dynamic viewing experience.
Visually, it's a pure 4K presentation. Textures are realistic, and close-up shots of drivers and cars are detailed. The colors of the car's livery and driver's uniform are bright and vibrant, but still look neat. The disc is also a great test of your TV's motion processing capabilities, as there's plenty of fast-paced action with cars zigzagging around the track.
Sunset Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard is one of cinema's most iconic films. It tells the story of Joe Gillis (William Holden), a screenwriter who is drawn into the world of former silent film star Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson) as she plans to return to the screen.
This is a 4K restoration Sunset Boulevard brilliantly. Textures have improved dramatically, looking clean and refined, especially on skin where wrinkles are visible. A black and white image has strong contrast and a wide range of gray tones. Although the image has been cleaned up, film buffs will be pleased with the preservation of film grain.
The film features a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 soundtrack and a remastered version of the original monaural soundtrack. The 5.1 soundtrack provides clear speech and has been thoroughly cleaned. Gillis's storytelling is well balanced by the film's soundtrack, where the strings create a lot of tension and intrigue without being intrusive.
Nobody 2
Nobody 2starring Bob Odenkirk – sequel to the film Nobody. Following the events of the first film, Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk) takes some time off but finds himself embroiled in even more trouble with organized crime and corrupt local officials.
As you'd expect from an action movie like Nobody 2the highlight is the Dolby Atmos soundtrack. Shots and hits have serious impact and will give your sub a workout. Ricocheting bullets are tracked with real precision, creating dynamic movement. More subtle effects, like clips reloading or glass breaking, sound clearer and are audible through my system's rear speakers.
Visually, this is another clean 4K presentation. The more colorful buildings and background of fairground lights look bright and vibrant, but still realistic. Close-up shots of people's faces show fine detail of wrinkles, stubble and scars, and the contrast in darker scenes, such as the glow of Mansell's cigarette in a dark room or carnival lights against the night sky, is strong. This is a 4K disc that will look good on most TVs.

The best TVs for every budget.
