Continuation from Sony 28 years later: Bone Temple hit track last week as part of a $20 million, 4-day opening weekend leading up to the MLK holiday.

MLK, which falls on Monday, January 19 next year, is often seen as the end of the holiday moviegoing season. While colleges and K-12 schools have a 94% discount on MLK according to ComScore, 76% to 84% of colleges remain on break through the first week of January, and 37% to 42% off the second weekend. Tickets for Bone Temple goes on sale January 2; Pre-sales is always an important factor when developing a forecast in addition to tracking.
Sony held a screening Bone Temple consistently for a month. The film, directed by Boyle (the second he directed in the series), attracted almost half of men over 25, 26% of women over 25, 13% of men under 25 and 13% of women under 25. Bone Temple remains the first choice to track among men over 25, followed by women under 25 with scores similar to last year. Nosferatu (which had a 3-day opening over the Christmas period of $21.6 million, a 5-day opening of $40.8 million).
In total, the entire British horror series, consisting of three feature-length films, has grossed approximately $300 million worldwide. Sony recently supported comedies on the big screen in the run-up to Christmas with the Jack Black and Paul Rudd film. Anaconda posting a 4-day opening of $23.6 million.
Will also open on January 16th with Bone Temple This is the first theatrical release from distributor Frost Row K. Dead Man's Wire from Gus Van Sant, as well as a wide break from Focus Features' Chloe Zhao. Hamnet, which is currently in limited release.
