2025 will be another year of pushing the boundaries of scientific research aboard the International Space Station. Last year, more than 750 studies were conducted aboard the space station, supported by crewed missions and supply vehicles delivering critical cargo and experiments to the orbiting laboratory. This year's research included testing DNA's ability to store data, producing vital nutrients on demand, demonstrating technologies for space debris removal and satellite servicing, developing next-generation drugs and more. Astronauts from around the world visited the space station to continue research that benefits humanity on Earth and paved the way for future exploration missions, including NASA's. Artemis program to return humanity to the Moon. On November 2, 2025, NASA and its international partners surpassed 25 years of continuous human presence aboard the space station, demonstrating humanity's dedication to space exploration and scientific discovery.
More than a million images have been taken aboard the space station this year, documenting groundbreaking research, observations of Earth from space, and even comets and other celestial phenomena. Rewind and check out a photo spread of 2025 aboard the space station.
