It's time again for Deadline Sound & Screen: Film, where top composers, songwriters and pop stars delight film industry voters with their sound creations from the year's biggest and most exciting films.
This year's UCLA Royce Hall features monster movies, vampire movies, nuclear thrillers, musical biopics, documentaries, superhero capers, Netflix's most popular film ever and the third installment of the highest-grossing film of all time.
Tonight, with the help of a 60-piece orchestra, the films on offer feature the Netflix team. K-Pop Demon Hunters taking songs from Huntr/x and Saja Boys. The streamer is also streaming music from Kathryn Bigelow's nuclear disaster thriller. House of Dynamite. Volker Bertelmann, known for his work on films such as Quiet on the Western Front And Conclavewrote the music and will join us, having already joined us earlier this year to showcase his work for Peacock's adaptation of the series Day of the Jackal.
Besides, Alexandre Desplatwon an Oscar for Grand Budapest Hotel And Shape of water, here with music from another Guillermo del Toro film – Frankenstein.
Warner Bros will present a vampire soundtrack for the film Sinnershit by Ryan Coogler under the direction of Michael B. Jordan. This assessment came from Ludwig Göranssonwho has already won an Oscar for his work on Coogler's film. Black Panther and Christopher Nolan Oppenheimerand he'll transport audiences to the delta blues with a little help from the spirit of Robert Johnson.
Disney is here with four films: Marvel Studios Fantastic Four: First Steps with Michael Giacchino, who won an Oscar for Upperforming a superhero assessment, and Captain America: Brave New Worldwith Laura Karpman, nominated for an Oscar for American fictionchallenging a new world through music; Studios of the 20th century” Avatar: Fire and Ashwith composer Simon Franglen; And Springsteen: Deliver Me Out of Nowherebiopic of Bruce Springsteen directed by Jeremy Allen White. Jeremiah Frates, co-founder of The Lumineers, will be with us virtually, offering music from the film about the making of The Boss Nebraska.
We'll also be joined tonight by an A-list group of singer-songwriters with Sarah Bareilles singing the song “Salt Tour Sour then Sweet” from the Apple Original Films documentary. Come see me in a good lightand Aiyana-Lee sing the theme song from Spike Lee's A24 crime film. Higher 2 Lowest.
This brings us to Diane Warren, who returns to Sound & Screen with music from a documentary about her life. Diane Warren: Ruthless. She's been here before, working on films including Flamin' Hot, 80 for Brady And Six triple eightst, but this time she's bringing a real pop star to Kesha to sing “Dear Me.”
