Unlike past years where the show aired on YouTube and Twitch, this year Geoff Keighley's Game Awards will be streamed via Amazon Prime Video and Twitch. But don't worry, viewing will still be free for everyone. However, I will note that Amazon owns Twitch.
In addition to the awards, there will also be plenty of game trailers, and the latest press release promises new game announcements and musical performances that should make the show an entertaining spectacle.
“With the upcoming launch of Fallout Season 2 and a slew of exciting game adaptations, Prime Video is a natural home for our show. We're honored to have Amazon, along with many other entertainment technology companies, as partners with our show,” says Geoff Keighley in press release.
The show is streaming in 1440p for the first time on Twitch, and you'll get the chance to earn a limited edition TGA badge for your profile. There is no word on what quality the broadcast will be on Prime Video. However, Amazon plans to open a Game Awards store to offer exclusive sales of video games on the night of the show.
The press release specifically states: “During the live broadcast, viewers can look forward to exclusive, limited-time Prime offers on nominated games, new releases, hardware and more, revealed in real time—available only on the site amazon.com/thegameawards and opens up to 24 hours while supplies last.”
It will air on December 11th from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm PT and 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm ET. As with most years, the awards honor the best games of the year in the following categories.

Nominations for the awards will be announced in mid-November.
