2 more youths charged with first-degree murder in fatal stabbing of Toronto teen

Toronto police have charged two more teenage boys in connection with the fatal stabbing of 14-year-old Abdul Aziz Sarr, who was killed in July outside a fast food restaurant on the city's east side.

Both suspects, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old from Toronto, were arrested on Friday, October 17, and each has been charged with first-degree murder. Two of them surrendered to police in July, and the third surrendered to police in August.

They were scheduled to make their first court appearance on Saturday, October 18, at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre.

Sarr was fatally stabbed on the night of July 5, 2025. Emergency crews were called to the area of ​​Eastern and Woodward Avenues shortly after 10 p.m., where they found the teenager with life-threatening injuries.

He was taken to hospital but later died.

In a statement issued after his arrest, the religious center where Sarr studied referred to him as a loved and positive person in their community.

“Abdul Aziz was more than just a student, he was the light of our lives,” the Mecca Islamic Center said in a statement.

“He greeted everyone with kindness and carried himself with grace far beyond his years. His loss broke our hearts.”

The center has begun raising funds to support Sarr's family to cover funeral costs, counseling and other expenses.

A third young man was previously arrested and charged in this case.

All three defendants remain in court as the investigation continues.
