A photo going viral shows the plane, apparently missing its tail and completely smashed at the front, sitting in the water with emergency lights clearly visible in the background.
According to BBC – citing local media – the plane crashed into a vehicle on the ground and crashed into the water… dragging two members of the ground crew with it into the ocean.
Two workers were pulled from the water, but one was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died in hospital. The four crew members on board the plane survived and were taken to hospital for treatment.
Hong Kong International Airport has reportedly closed the runway where the accident occurred… although two other runways are still operational.
