Recently Twitter user changed lives by accidentally using a revolutionary phrase: “Working in romantic comedies.”
“Some of my friends have what I'd call 'rom-com jobs,' but my favorite is my friend who's a tastemaker in Celsius,” Carey aka @brokebackstan. tweeted.
This phrase immediately blew up the Internet. “Viewing replies to see other 'rom com jobs' for career inspiration,” read one tweet.
There were also a lot of people leaving feedback to Carey's friend about the different flavors of Celsius (major shout out to the white peach, I think?).
But mostly people talked about how apt the term was. “I haven't been able to stop thinking about how great the phrase 'working in a rom-com' is since I saw this tweet earlier this month. It’s like you immediately knew what it meant,” the user wrote.
And they are right! There's no precise definition of “working in a rom-com,” but the term carries a very specific vibe with it. You think of “romantic comedy work” and can immediately imagine a job so idyllic and whimsical that only Meg Ryan could pull it off. Like a children's bookstore owner or a reporter from 90s New York.
On Carey's Twitter, people are discussing what jobs fall under the “romantic comedy job” category, and the responses are amazing. For example, I've never even heard of some of these job titles. Here are some of the “romantic jobs” shared by Twitter users:
